The striker, who was named in Gareth Southgate’s England squad earlier today, required oxygen after receiving attention from the medical staff
Arsenal fans were in full voice for Danny Welbeck during the first-half, but it was for all the wrong reasons as the striker was hauled off with a worrying looking injury.
Welbeck went up for a header with Bruno Gaspar but landed awkwardly before immediately calling for treatment.
He came off with half an hour played for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang after receiving attention from medical staff on the pitch for several minutes.
The striker has been taken to hospital and early indications suggest he badly injured his ankle – leaving the pitch on a stretcher wearing a leg brace.
BT Sport, who are showing live coverage of the Arsenal match opted against showing a replay which firmly suggests it’s a very serious injury.

Some of his team-mates looked visibly shaken at the extent of his distress as Welbeck even received oxygen at one point. Sporting captain and former Manchester United man Nani offered comforting words for his old team-mate.
Unsurprisingly, many Gunners fans took to Twitter to wish their player well. Below you can see some of the best Welbeck tweets.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
