Ben Stokes joined talkSPORT Breakfast on Thursday to talk about all things England – and then agreed to take part in our black-ops mission.

It turns out that in these COVID restricted times, there’s not a lot for international cricketers to do other than play the PlayStation and in particular Call of Duty.

And listeners to the show got an insight into the habits of the camp – Sam Billings is the worst player, according to Stokes, who is preparing to play in England’s second ODI against India, which is live on talkSPORT 2.

So talkSPORT presenters Laura Woods, Ally McCoist and Jamie O’Hara set the England hero a challenge for his press conference ahead of the second ODI with India on Friday.

They gave him four Call of Duty inspired phrases to drop into his answers.

“You’ve got a press conference in about five minutes time, so you’re going to be sat over Zoom with 30 journalists, which I imagine can be quite boring,” Laura said.

“We wanted to see if you’d accept a challenge we wanted to set you this morning. To make it a bit more spicy and interesting for you, we wanted to set you a challenge of putting in some phrases.

“So here are the suggestions we’ve had, they’re all inspired by Call of Duty.

“Number one is ‘Warzone’, number two is ‘no scope’, number three is ‘loadout’.”

Jamie O’Hara added: “You’re got to get ‘Gulag’ in there.”

Stokes replied: “I’m just writing these down. I reckon I’ll get all four in easy.”

And did he manage it?… Of course he did!

Stokes managed to get all four phrases subtly into his answers and you can see the results in the video above.

talkSPORT also found out he likes to use women’s pomegranate deodorant and that Tom Curran spends the most time in front of the mirror.
