Jacob Rees-Mogg’s own words are coming back to haunt him and he’s not a happy bunny

Jacob Rees-Mogg is among the many pro-Brexit politicians whose views appeared to have changed since before the EU referendum, and campaign group Led By Donkeys is doing everything it can to remind them of that fact, with a series of billboards featuring their quotes.

One of their latest posters, currently proudly displayed on a roundabout in Bristol, repeats a statement the MP for the 17th century made in the House of Commons in 2011, and it’s such a great self-own.

Here it is being posted.

However, in spite of having said it, Jacob Rees-Mogg isn’t happy with the free publicity.

“I joined Twitter in 2017 so the billboard is fundamentally dishonest. It is designed as a tweet and is a highly selective quote.”

Led By Donkeys, having heard of JRM’s displeasure have used it to promote the poster even further.

He’ll be thrilled.
