Jake Paul took more shots at Conor McGregor claiming the UFC star ‘doesn’t have the hunger anymore’ and that he’d be ‘way easier’ to face than Floyd Mayweather.
The YouTuber has been goading the Irish fighter for some time in an effort to tempt him into what would he a lucrative bout.
Paul is due to face former UFC fighter Ben Askren in the boxing ring in April.
That’s not stopped his relentless comments about McGregor who he says, like Askren, would underestimate him.
Paul is 2-0 as a professional fighter having beaten fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib and then ex-NBA player Nate Robinson last year.
Speaking on the I AM ATHLETE podcast, Paul said: “Conor, Conor is way easier than Floyd.
“Conor is way easier than Floyd and Conor, just like Ben Askren is doing currently, Conor will underestimate me, he’ll come into the ring, be like ‘this is an easy payday’.
“He just doesn’t have that hunger anymore, that’s why he got starched in his last fight, it’s because he has everything.
“He doesn’t need to fight for s*** anymore.”
Jake Paul is the not the first person to suggest the fire isn’t there for Conor McGregor any more.
We saw a much more mellow fighter at UFC 257 where he was knocked out by Dustin Poirier.
Daniel Cormier said McGregor needs his edge back in order to win a trilogy fight with Poirier, whether that fight happens or not is another matter.
In the meantime, Paul will no doubt keep goading the Irishman. The lure of the $ 50million pay day, if Paul can beat Askren, may be too good to turn down.
A fight with Mayweather could also be on the horizon too.
He is already set to face Jake’s brother, Logan Paul, in an exhibition which is currently postponed.
After this, he wants to fight Jake and rapper 50 Cent.
Mayweather said: “This year I will focus on several exhibitions.
“I will have an exhibition in Tokyo, Japan again. Of course the one with Logan Paul and I.
“And if Jake Paul can get past his next opponent Ben Askren, I will have an exhibition with him as well.”
This sparked a war of words between the two on Instagram.
