President Rodrigo Duterte has signed into law  the 2019 budget bill.

Citing information from Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, Senate President Tito Sotto said, however, that Duterte vetoed the P95.3 billion the Senate said were illegal insertions done by the House of Representatives after Congress ratified its version of the budget bill.

House appropriations chair Rolando Andaya argued however that these were mere “itemizations” that would make it easier to scrutinize the budget bill.

The government has been operating on a reenacted budget in the absence of a 2019 budget law.
