Cheetahs coach Hawies Fourie has named his team for their final Super Rugby Unlocked encounter against Griquas in Kimberley on Saturday.

The Cheetahs are sweating over the availability of captain Junior Pokomela, who has been struggling with a wrist injury for the past two weeks.

Pokomela will see a specialist on Thursday to determine the severity of the injury. If he can’t take his place on Saturday, Aidon Davis will wear the No 7 jersey with lock Carl Wegner taking over the captaincy.

Elsewhere, winger Rhyno Smith and centre Howard Mnisi will be in the starting line-up for the first time in the competition, replacing Malcolm Jaer and William Small-Smith respectively.

Hencus van Wyk also makes his Cheetahs debut, starting at tighthead prop in place of Luan de Bruin, while Boan Venter also gets a start at loosehead in place of Charles Marais.

Kick-off for Saturday’s clash at Free State Stadium is scheduled for 16:30.
