Oscar De La Hoya gave an amusing answer when asked if he would return to the ring for a fight with UFC president Dana White.
The legendary five-weight boxing world champion is now 48 years old and has not competed since 2008.
However, he announced last year that he was eyeing a comeback after seeing Mike Tyson’s success against Roy Jones Jr.
De La Hoya told FightHype: “I do wanna talk to Mike Tyson about how he felt, just his philosophy on why he did it, how he did it – because he looked phenomenal.
“He looked great. For a guy who’s 54 years old, he looked in amazing shape. Yes, his timing might’ve been off just a bit but he looked good.
“And so I was very happy for him and I would love to pick his brain on just the process, and how it took him to get to that mind frame, to the level.
“So we’ll see after that conversation how I feel. But yeah, I’m in shape.”
And now, he has said on the Pug & Copp podcast: “I’ve been training for the last two months, it’s no secret.
“I feel amazing. I sparred the other day and I didn’t know how good I was.
“I’d forgotten how good I was, I’d seriously forgotten how good I was.
“The legends of the past – if you compare them to the fighters of today – it was a whole different beast, a whole different animal.
“Imagine if I go up against a big name fighter from the UFC or something? Whoever, I don’t care who it is.
“I always fought the very best, I wouldn’t mind doing it again, I just have to make sure my health is okay.”
After he mentioned UFC fighters, De La Hoya was asked about a potential fight with his long-time nemesis, UFC president Dana White.
The pair share a long-standing feud, stemming from the Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor fight.
Oscar laughed and replied: “I think he would have to lose a few pounds, this guy looks kinda big!”
