Cape Town – Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas says he believes in Siphelele Ntshangase though he has preferred to use more industrious players in central midfield in recent times.
Ntshangase started 2018/19 as a regular starter for Chiefs but has not featured in the previous three matches against SuperSport United, Black Leopards and Chippa United.
In the Telkom Knockout quarter-final victory over SuperSport, Solinas opted to use George Maluleka and Willard Katsande in the middle of the park.
As such, the Italian says Maluleka and Katsande are being favoured as they have the ability to hunt out and win the ball back from the opposition, with Adriamirado Andrianarimanana also an option.
He told reporters: “In the last three games we played with Katsande-Maluleka, Katsande and Dax, because in this moment we need balance in the midfield. In the last three games we haven’t conceded a goal. We haven’t conceded a goal.
“Not only the defence is playing well but also in front of the defence, the midfielders, they did a good job.
“Ntshangase is a very good player but Ntshangase is more offensive, a more attacking midfielder.
“In this moment we need two midfielders, two pit bulls to recover the ball. But Ntshangase is very good player, me, I believe in him.
“Ntshangase starts the process in improving the offensive job, because Ntshangase is very good. But in the future Ntshangase will play…again.”
The Glamour Boys are back in action after the FIFA international break when they meet Orlando Pirates at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday, November 24.
