Alan Brazil and Jason Cundy have been involved in a spot of on-air sparring over Wayne Rooney’s upcoming England send-off at Wembley Stadium.

The Football Association have come under heavy fire for their plans to allow the 33-year-old to come out of international retirement to make his 120th and final Three Lions appearance in a friendly against the USA.

While many have backed the idea to celebrate one of England’s greatest players and record goalscorer, others have questioned the FA’s motives.

When initially announced, the FA stated the Wayne Rooney Foundation International game would raise money for the player’s charity, as well as give fans the opportunity to say goodbye to their former captain.

Since then, however, it has been revealed that tickets sales will NOT be donated to the Wayne Rooney Foundation – which has only levelled more criticism at the governing body.

Sports bar host Cundy believes Rooney’s involvement is just an ‘embarrassing’ ploy from the FA to drive up ticket sales, and that the player and manager Gareth Southgate have been forced to go along with the plan.

Mr Alan Brazil, though, did not agree.
