Bomber ‘shocked’ by the supportive messages he’s received on Twitter and Instagram ahead of his final fight

Tony Bellew has thanked fans for their messages of support as he leaves social media ahead of his fight with Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday night.

The Bomber faces the Ukranian star in a bid to become the undisputed cruiserweight champion in his last ever bout.

Usyk currently holds all the belts at the weight and is being primed for a move up to the heavyweight division after facing Bellew at the Manchester Arena, with a clash against Anthony Joshua in 2019 reportedly his target.

But first he must down Bellew who has insisted he won’t bow out easily and is ready to take his opponent the whole way, if needed.

Most British fight fans are fully behind the Everton fan going into the bout and even The Bomber himself admitted he had been stunned by the positive messages he’d been getting.

And hours after releasing footage from his workout on Wednesday, he announced he’d be coming off social media.

Speaking at the pre-fight press conference, Bellew said: “I meet a man who has exceptional skills, an exceptional talent – but I can turn someone’s lights out in the blink of an eye.

“It’s never happened to him before but it could happen on Saturday. I am going to find a way.”
